Beaver Creek World Cup Birds of Prey Downhill
Late November/Early December
As the only men’s World Cup stop in the United States, the Audi Birds of Prey has evolved into one of the world’s premier ski events. Beaver Creek’s Birds of Prey racecourse was built during the summer of 1997 in preparation for the 1999 World Alpine Ski Championships. Designed by Olympic Downhill gold medalist Bernhard Russi and features a vertical drop of 757 meters and contains an average gradient of 27 percent, increasing to 45 percent in the middle of the course and again in the final third of the course. Thursday evenings beginning in December signal the opportunity for Vail Valley residents and guests to enjoy free music in the streets of Vail as the Vail Valley Foundation presents the 12th season of the popular Bud Light Street Beat free concert series.

Winter in the Rockies will never be the same as professional and amateur athletes converge on the mountains and villages of Vail for a celebration of adventure sports, music, art and the great outdoors.

Talon's Challenge in Beaver Creek

Beaver Creek’s signature Talon’s Challenge event tackles nearly 24,000 vertical and showcases the mountain’s toughest 13 black and double-black diamond runs in one day. Participants return year after year and come from all over to earn a spot on the electronic wall of fame at Red Tail Camp. This winter Talons will now be a draw for young rippers who will be rewarded with their own new Kids Talons Challenge.The event is limited to the first 1,500 registrants.
